The Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics has decided that starting from 2005, the "National Higher Education Computational Mathematics Annual Conference" will be held every four years, taking place in September or October. The most recent conference was successfully held in Dalian from October 17-20, 2005, in conjunction with the 8th National Youth Computational Mathematics Seminar. The conference was organized by the Higher Education Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics and hosted by Dalian University of Technology. Ten renowned scholars from various universities and research institutes, including Academicians Shi Zhongci and Lin Qun, were invited to deliver special reports. The Feng Kang Prize was awarded at the opening ceremony to Yunqing Huang, Qiang Du, and Wei Cai, who also delivered special academic presentations.

During the conference, the 2nd Outstanding Young Computational Mathematicians Paper Competition was held, with awards presented at the closing ceremony. First prizes were awarded to Sihong Shao from Peking University, Xia Ji (female), and Shipeng Mao from Zhengzhou University. Second prizes went to Yun Xu (female) and Huipo Liu from the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science.

Additional activities included the editorial board meeting of the "Journal of Higher Education Computational Mathematics," the "Information and Computational Science Series" editorial board meeting by the Science Press, and the Computational Mathematics Teaching Seminar organized by the Teaching Research Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics.

In total, 263 official delegates, including 106 students and 157 teachers and other researchers from 69 colleges and research institutes, attended the conference. This included five scholars from Hong Kong, the UK, and the USA with part-time positions at mainland institutions. The conference featured 15 major reports and 119 group reports. Thanks to the collective efforts of all parties, the conference was a resounding success.

The 3rd Executive Council Meeting of the 6th Council of the Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics was held at Wuhan University on May 22, 2005. Chaired by Academician Shi Zhongci, the council president, 21 executive council members from across the country participated. The council members had a lively discussion on the work of the society, the current state and development of computational mathematics in China, reviewed the work of the society over the past three years, and planned near-term activities. The council made the following resolutions:

To further promote high-level scientific computing education and guidance in universities and to strengthen various activities related to the discipline of computational mathematics, the society decided to establish a University Working Committee, operating alongside the existing four working committees. Vice President Zhang Pingwen will oversee the committee, with members including Fengshan Bai (Tsinghua University), Jin Cheng (Fudan University), Yinnian He (Xi'an Jiaotong University), Bo Liu (Jilin University), Xinghua Wang (Zhejiang University), Wei Wu (Dalian University of Technology), and Pingwen Zhang (Peking University).

The University Working Committee is responsible for organizing the "Higher Education Computational Mathematics Annual Conference." Starting from 2005, this annual conference will be held every four years in September or October. The Feng Kang Prize will be awarded at the opening ceremony, with winners presenting academic reports. The "Computational Mathematics Society Young Paper Award" will be evaluated during the conference and awarded at the closing ceremony. The 10th "National Higher Education Computational Mathematics Conference" will be held in conjunction with the "8th National Youth Computational Mathematics Seminar" from October 17-21, 2005, at Dalian University of Technology. The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue in the "Journal of Higher Education Computational Mathematics" (Chinese Edition). The executive council also discussed specific issues related to invited speakers and funding.

To promote the development of the field of numerical algebra in China, the council agreed to establish a Numerical Algebra Professional Committee. This committee will strengthen academic exchanges in the field of numerical algebra, cultivate young research teams, and promote the development of numerical algebra in China through activities such as organizing summer schools, professional academic conferences, and discussions on professional development directions. The committee members include Zhaojun Bai (University of California, Davis, USA), Zhongzhi Bai (Institute of Computational Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Hanfu Chen (Chinese University of Hong Kong), Yongzhong Song (Nanjing Normal University, Head), and Yimin Wei (Fudan University).

To adapt to the new situation in information and computational science education in China and to meet the urgent needs of computational mathematics teaching in higher education institutions, the society plans to collaborate with the Science Press to publish the "Scientific Computing and Its Software Teaching Series."

5.The Executive Committee also discussed issues related to the turnover of duties and the allocation of positions for the new council, deciding to convene the 6th and 7th Council Meeting of the Chinese Society for Computational Mathematics at Chongqing University in December 2006. This meeting will summarize the work of the 6th Council and elect members for the 7th Council.

In addition, Secretary-General Ningning Yan and others reported to the Executive Committee on the financial status of the council, the management of the CAM website, and the activities of various working committees. The Executive Committee also discussed standardizing the society's name and strengthening the organization of academic conferences.
