Introduction of CSCM
The China Society for Computational Mathematics (CSCM) is an academic organization representing the community of computational mathematicians in China, under the auspices of the Chinese Mathematical Society. The primary objective of the Chinese Computational Mathematics Society is to unite computational mathematicians, foster the
advancement of computational mathematics, and contribute to the national agenda of promoting science and education, as well as achieving socialist modernization in China.
Key initiatives of the CSCM include organizing and endorsing academic exchanges in computational mathematics and related fields at both domestic and international levels, advancing research and development in computational mathematics theory and application software, promoting the popularization and provision of advisory services for scientific computing, driving reforms and growth in computational mathematics education, and providing support and assistance for the editorial and publishing work of professional literature and academic journals in the field of computational mathematics. Established in 1978, the CSCM has convened twelve national computational mathematics annual conferences. Professor Fangxiong ZHAO, Academician Kang FENG, and Academician Yulin ZHOU respectively served as the first, second, and third chairpersons, while Academician Zhongci SHI consecutively served as the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth chairperson. Academician Weinan E served as the ninth chairperson. At present, the chairperson is Academician Song JIANG.
Local computational mathematics societies have been established in all provinces, directly governed municipalities, and autonomous regions to independently conduct a range of activities.
Membership eligibility for the CSCM is defined as engagement in computational mathematics or related work in scientific research, education, production, such as assistant researcher, lecturer, or engineer in computational mathematics and scientific engineering computing. This also encompasses leaders and other individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm for computational mathematics and scientific engineering computing, actively support, and participate in the activities of this society.
